Stretch or compress adjustment clip with Keyframes

PostFri Jul 08, 2022 7:01 pm

Hi everybody,
I am relatively new to video editing and DaVinci, and have come across the following problem: I use adjustment clips to zoom (in and out) clips, using keyframes.
As I do not want to basically re- program such basic movements every time, I have put them into a power bin in order to re-use.
However according to the length of each new clip, it will often be necessary to adapt the adjustment clip, but the keyframes should scale relatively to the clip length - I did not find a solution online. Someone was complaining that this was possible in Avid but not in DaVinci, but that was in 2019 or so...

Is this possible and how?

There is a feature in Fusion called the Keyframe Stretcher that allows this, but I'm unfamiliar with its operation.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Thanks, I'll try to check it out. But hope that there will be a simple command in the future like changing clip length + modifier in order to also stretch (or compress) the keyframe spacing.

You can also try the Anim Curves modifier as an alternative to the KeyframeStretcher.

Not really because the Anim Curve is acting also on the animation while the keyframe stretcher is acting only in the not-animated section

For what I'm experimenting (and it make me mad) it works fine in stretching but it's a cr**p in compression

You can create custom curves and use keyframes with the Anim Curves to basically replace the Keyframe Stretcher.

MrAlexTech put out a video describing how to achieve this.

Win 10 Home | Intel i7 - 10700f 64 GB 1 TB GB SSD 2 TB SSD
RTX-3060 12 GB | Resolve Studio 18.6.6| Fusion Studio 18.6.6

Anim Curves is not available on Merge node on "Center" stuff ... I'm animating the Y axis and not even available on Transform node.

To make it available you need to link tu Custom node. But then troubles are coming with expressions since the animation forecast bounces etc ... The one Alex made, is simpler.

If you ant to use AnimCurves on the timing of a Transform Center animation you can use them on the Displacement in the Modifiers tab.

yes but still cumbersome to make come more complex animation.
I think I will give up. At the end if BMG doesn't care to fix well known and replicable issues on their products, i don't see any reason for which I have to spend a lot of my time to work around.

I will find another way with another tool
