Compound Clips Not Rendering in Fusion

PostMon Aug 01, 2022 5:13 pm

When restarting Davinci Resolve, any compound clip that is being used in the Fusion tab will turn black until I double click on the clip in the media pool tab. Once I double click or view the compound clip though, everything will work as intended, until I restart the program again.

It isn't a big deal but if there is an option or something that is in settings that I can turn on to fix it, that would be nice to know. Sometimes I'll make a render and then notice while watching it back that I forgot to click on all of the compound clips. Just a minor inconvenience.

Could you post a video of this? I've never encountered it and I would imagine this would be more than an inconvenience.

It was only a minor inconvenience because I was working on a small project and only used a few compound clips in fusion. But I can see how this could be a pain to work with on bigger projects.

My question is why are you using Compound clips in this workflow? It does seem like a bug but I am wondering why are you using them in Fusion like this.
Win 10 Home | Intel i7 - 10700f 64 GB 1 TB GB SSD 2 TB SSD
RTX-3060 12 GB | Resolve Studio 18.6.6| Fusion Studio 18.6.6

Win 10 Home | Intel Core I7-7700HQ 32 GB 1 TB NVME SSD 1 TB SATA SSD
GTX-1060-6GB | Resolve 17.4.6

I had that same thought. Seems like a MediaIn (or Loader) for every element would be the better option.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

For my latest project, I used it to make transitions between scenes. In the end, I didn't need to use Fusion but I thought I might of needed to use a planar tracker for some scenes.

I also needed to use compound clips because the clips I were transitioning to had multiple clips stitched together.

My question is why do people on these forums ask arbitrary questions in place of attempting to help solve the problem? There are TONS of reasons why someone might want a compound clip utilized in fusion. One of which being quick templating of a simple effect/comp.

Maybe try helping next time so that learning can occur, rather than asking dumb questions.

Sometimes the best way to solve a problem is to do things differently. ;)

Just recreated the set up you demonstrated in the video. In Resolve Studio 19b1 it did not go to black on re-opening the project. It looks like they may have fixed that particular bug?
Resolve & Fusion Studio 19b2
Windows 11
Intel 12900K @ 5.1GHz | 32GB RAM | RTX4090

MacOS 12.7.2
MacBook Pro 13,3 | 16GB | Radeon 460 4GB | 256GB System | 256GB Scratch
