Is it possible to work with more than one source input on the color page without having to get there through the Fusion page? I know you can use multiple media out nodes in Fusion and "add source" on the color page, but is there a way to do this without going through Fusion in the cases when I won't be using it anyway?
I have two clips on top of each other in the timeline, and I want to make changes to one of them in the color page using the other as a mask for those changes. I can make a Fusion clip out of them and add another media out node, but all the changes I'm trying to make are on the color page, so that seems like it should be unnecessary.
No, I don't think thats possible as such. You can add clips that are explicitly flagged as matte sources into your tree, but to flag those sources they need to be added to the media pool 'as' matte sources... in the Media Storage window, right-click the source and 'Add to Media Pool as Matte', and then in the Color Page you can right click the node and 'Add Matte'... but you can't just use any clip instance as a matte.

Right, sorry, not exactly what I meant. I meant "not a second input" as in "it doesn't have to be in the timeline, then sent to Fusion, then to color (which otherwise means grouping multiple clips on the timeline as a Fusion clip).
You can also drag any clip from the media pool to the node tree of the color page (no need to do anything on the media page), it will appear as an external matte.

It would appear this is broken in 19b2, or I'm doing it wrong.
I'm simply trying to drag a clip from the pool into the color node tree
