Scene Cut Detection

PostWed Apr 03, 2024 4:41 pm

Hi there,

I am having some troubles with the scene cut detection feature viewer...

I have attached what mine looks like and what it should be looking like.

it is hard to see but there should be 3 different viewers but in mine I have one viewer with the other 2 shrunk inside the one viewer if that makes sense

I just started using 18.5.1 and ran into the same thing. Looked at the manual and it looks like it's been changed? Very frustrating, it takes me longer to get through a movie with the tiny PIP viewers. Is there a way to change it back to how it used to be?

Yes, they changed it. I haven't seen a way to get the old layout unfortunately.

Nowadays though the newer "Detect Scene Cut" from the timeline usually does a better job without handholding for the work I do at least.

I'm not sure about it being better, I had a scene where a composer flipped a page of his score and it triggered a bunch of cuts, while another scene with obviously different black and white photos had no cuts at all using the same threshold setting.

The tiny PIP was a bad change, I'm having to lean in to my monitor to see what's in the frame, and it blocks parts of the incoming frame. Also the third viewer is supposed to be the 2nd incoming frame, but in a few instances it was seconds later.

I don't mean that "Scene Cut Detection" is better now, I mean that the newer completely separate AI feature "Detect Scene Cut" is better than Scene Cut Detection. It has no controls/threshold at all.
