ASIO problem with DaVinci and the DeckLink 8K Pro

PostThu Apr 11, 2024 11:51 am

Hello,
I have the following problem with DaVinci and the DeckLink 8K Pro video card:
As soon as I switch DaVinci Resolve Studio 18.6 to ASIO under Preferences and then close the software to update, DaVinci Resolve crashes when I restart it and can no longer be opened.
After a lot of troubleshooting, I noticed the following behavior:
If I deactivate the Blackmagic DeckLink 8K Pro video card in Device Manager, I can work with all ASIO drivers in DaVinci without any problems.
Is this a known problem or is it due to my card?

Is the host still crashing with Desktop Video configured as the IO Engine with the Decklink?

A link to diagnostic logs may be useful. Instructions in the FAQ: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190#16

Hi, thank you very much for your reply!
I created a zip file of the crash.
Can I send you the zip file or what information should I publish here?
How to configure Desktop Video with the Decklink as an IO Engine?

Thank you!

Post a link to logs via a file sharing service. e.g. WeTransfer.

You're in good hands with Reynaud, but I would just ask, since it's not clear from what you're saying, are you trying to use 'Blackmagic Audio' as your ASIO driver? Or what is your audio device/card, since you didn't say? The BMD ASIO driver is legacy and has never worked, because of hardware limitations, across all BMD i/o devices; and will produce crashes.

Hi Reynaud, here is the link to the zip file:

Hi Steve, I use Ferrofish A32 Dante.
When I switch the I/O engine to ASIO in DaVinci under Preferences Audio I/O I get the following request: Changes will take effects the next time Resolve is started.
After this change, a restart is no longer possible and DaVinci crashes.

As soon as I deactivate the DeckLink 8K Pro in the device manager, DaVinci starts with the ASIO settings of my external Ferrofish A32 Dante sound cards.

Can you please include a screenshot of the current configuration:

Are the crashes reproducible with both the Delta 1010 and Ferrofish A32 ASIO drivers?

Hello, the sound card doesn't matter, as soon as I switch to ASIO DaVinci can no longer be started. I deactivated the sound cards individually in the device manager, and that has no effect either. I can only work with ASIO if I deactivate the Blackmagic DeckLink 8K Pro graphics card.
