Unwanted imbedded audio preventing Auto Sync Audio

I shot a short film over the past weekend, two full days worth of footage that when imported into the media pool comes with a “blank buzz” audio track. We recorded separate audio so I attempted to use the Auto Sync Audio function which has always worked brilliantly in the past but fails now. The only thing I can think is the “blank buzz” track is preventing the sync so my question is…

How can I separate the “blank buzz” from the footage? Is it possible to do it in the media pool or would unlinking it in the timeline then deleting it be the only method?

Did you record timecode over audio to the cameras?

We were a very low budget production so we weren’t able to jam the camera with the slate. So timecodes don’t match.
I know timecode is better but I’ve always been able to Sync based on Waveform and had no problems.

It sounds like your camera audio is buz, and separate audio is not timecode jammed?

If above is true, that’s the two automatic processes available. Time to manually sync clips.

If not true, please provide more information

Another option you might wanna try is using some audio editing software to cut out that pesky buzz before you sync everything up.

OK.

So what is that buzz? I mean, that's not a normal thing, ya know?
