Mini XLR mic Plug In vs Using BeachTek XLR Adapter

Anybody have any experience with or notice audio quality difference between plugging a high quality shotgun mic directly into the camera via an XLR mini to full sized cable vs using a BeachTek XLR adapter plugged into the mini mic port?

I've never used anything like the BeachTek, but I've never noticed anything amiss going straight into the mini-XLR of the P4K.
