Use same footage in two projects

PostTue Apr 30, 2024 7:50 pm

I want to create a new project that has access to all the footage from a recent project, including the manually input metadata, logging notes, etc.

Using dynamic bins doesn't seem the right way to go: I have dozens of bins in my "source" project.

I don't want to simply duplicate and rename the project, because I want to change the project's base frame rate.

Is the best way to do this to simply use dynamic project switching and copy and paste everything I want between the two projects?

This is simple enough to do, but I want to make sure I'm not missing a better option.

Thanks
Chris

Yes, just paste the clips or the bins in the new project.

You can change the frame rate for new timelines in the new project.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I think you are looking for Power Bins:

Power Bins: Hidden by default. Power bins are shared among all of the projects in your current project library, making them ideal for shared title generators, graphics movies and stills, sound
effects library files, music files, and other media that you want to be able to quickly and easily
access from any project.

I'm sorry, I meant "power" bins in my original post. I'd been thinking "dynamic switching" and called power bins "dynamic bins"....

Thanks for the suggestion, but power bins are not the best for doing what I want--it's hard to organize them within the new project, unless the material is simply copied out of them into new "regular" bins.

The cut and paste method seems to be the best option.

Thanks all.
