What keyboard shortcut select video immediate left of cursor

PostWed May 08, 2024 1:34 pm

Hi,
I am having to ctrl B cut single frames out with 'snow' flecks, every other frame has such.
workflow:-
I move cursor using right arrow. get a frame with a mess, go ctrl B
move cursor one frame to right using arrow key, all is good in view, ctrl B
I wish to select the frame I have just cut then Shift Backpsace to ripple delete.
apart from clicking it with mouse, which I am doing, could I use a keyboard entry to select frame immediate left of cursor ? then I go shift backspace ?

Maybe there is even a command using keybd keys to select video immediate left of cursor and ripple delete it all in one go !

Also as this 'snow' fault is every other frame, is there a command to delete every other frame, doubt it, .

You might try turning on Selection Follow Playhead, under the Timeline menu.

Or instead of the second cut, just hit Ctrl+Shift+[ to edit out the frame.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

Hi, I cant find 'selection follow playhead'

also tried the Ctrl Shift [ and it deleted not just the snowy fault frame immediate left of playhead but also the good frame left of that bad one up to the last cut.
Just the bad frame immediate left would have been good, but alas this happened.

I don;t know what a 'snow frame' is nor the quality of the source you are using that creates this problem... but you might want to have a look at using the 'Frame Replacer' OFX.

Edit page, Timelime menu -> Selection Follows Playhead, about 2/3 of the way down the choices. It's also covered in the manual.

I echo Andy Mees' advice above to try the OFX Frame Replacer plug-in, assuming you're using Resolve Studio.

Have you gone through the Resolve Editing training? Lots of great stuff in the free textbook.

Open the Keyboard Shortcuts menu.

Go to Application > Trim > Ripple > End to playhead & Start to playhead.

Assign your preffered shortcut key.

Start to playhead will make a cut at the playhead position and ripple delete everything to the left (= towards the start of the clip)

End to playhead will make a cut at the playhead position and ripple delete everything to the right (= towards the end of the clip)
