Big update to markers in Resolve 19

PostWed May 08, 2024 3:46 pm

In the announcement Grant mentioned that markers have had a big update in Resolve 19 but I don't see anything new.

Am I just missing something? Or has it just not been implemented yet and is on its way??

I was really hoping for a change to markers and flags :'(

I think the new thing is that clip markers are now shown on the Cut page too.

Ironically, however, they show up as timeline markers. :?

His exact words were "We have improved markers in DaVinci Resolve 19, they're a lot better"

I was really hoping it would be a system a little more like Baselight's categories where they can be defined with meaning. Trying to get everyone in my post house to stick to a system of colour coding flags, markers and clip colours is impossible.

It would be much better if say marker colours could be given names. This is the "conform error" marker, this is the "online notes" marker and this is the "temp vfx" marker etc...

Trying to implement a system like this lasts a little while but everyone inevitably forgets and starts throwing around whatever colours they like. In Baselight each category is named so it's hard to mess up. It really helps with communicating across a large team.

I think it might have something to do with the "point of interest" markers within the replay system

Seems like a printout of the system would solve that.

(Not that your idea is a bad one. Just that, unlike the printout, implementing it is out of our control.)

He did go on to say the POI is NOT the same as markers. So that gave me hope that he was talking about something else.
