GALLERY PERMISSION error - help!

Hi everyone,

I’ve searched but can’t figure this one out.

I am getting an error with new install of Beta 2 (12.0.0b.028) with Windows 7...

“GALLERY PERMISSION. DaVinci Resolve is unable to write to selected gallery path ResolveVirtual\.gallery as it does not have write mission for the gallery path selected and the first drive you list in Preferences”.

What is ResolveVirtual? Where is that directory? How do I give Resolve ‘permission’?

Under PROJECT SETTINGS > GENERAL OPTIONS > WORKING FOLDERS I have ‘ResolveVirtual’ in the directories - I'm assuming it defaults to... the C drive?

I set the scratch disk (in prefs) to a folder in D drive - which it has write permission to, I guess??

Add a valid drive/path to the Resolve Preferences - Media Storage - Scratch Disk list. Make sure it's a path that the Resolve app has write permission to.

Once you've done that, or if you've already done that, NEW projects should use that as the cache and stills path.

But existing projects will still have the old path. To fix that, go into Project Settings - General Options - Working folders, then delete the current (bad) path for stills and cache, and select Save. If you go back into the working folders area, you should now see the first scratch disk path in those areas.

Thank you!

Yes I've done all that - I think the issue is possibly with Windows. Otherwise I can't explain why, as I'm logged into the system as an admin, DaVinci has issues writing to my drives...

All other applications have no problem. Odd!

So in Project Settings / General Options / Working Folders, you now see valid paths for the cache and stills (not the ResolveVirtual path), but you still get permission issues when you launch Resolve, for those items?

Thanks Dwaine, this solves a problem I was having when having added a media storage drive in preferences, I then found that none of my favorites showed any content. Deleting the cache/stills paths in General Options, then Saving, solved that.
