Well, a NUC is probably not an ideal machine to run Resolve on.

It's also possible that the 8GB of system memory you have is or will cause issues. (16GB is recommended minimum)

But, the igdrclneo64.dll errors in the Windows log point to the current issue being with the Intel driver.

On a system with an additional graphics card, we would suggest you delete that driver to solve the issue. But since you only have the Intel HD graphics, removing a related driver seems like a bad plan.

Was Resolve 15 working OK on this system? If you install 15 again, does it still work, or no? If no, what changed on the system since then?

Dwaine, are you able to confirm this is an OpenCL issue? I'm frustrated that Resolve was working perfectly with the Intel 640 under v15.x and almost perfectly under 16.x and now not--but not sure what's changed on my system. Is it still the case that the Intel GPUs aren't offering the full OpenCL implementation?

Would installing the OpenCL Runtime (to, as I understand it, run the OpenCL bits on the CPU) be a fruitless exercise?

Re: Resolve wont start

I've reinstalled 15.3.1003 and it's stable. I also tried upgrading (installing 16.1.1 on top of the 15.3.1 install--assuming that might be a thing) but came to the same point with Resolve allowing me to open an existing project and then crashing after about 15 seconds after loading the timeline.

I'm on the older 24.20.100.6194 Intel graphics driver and haven't tried v15 on the latest graphics drivers.

I used the Intel Driver and Support Assistant just before the v16 issue presented itself and it did a few things, including a BIOS update, which I'm now looking into rolling back, if possible. I've removed the Intel Management Engine for now as well.

Of course in v15 I can't open my upgraded v16 project databases. I do have a pre-upgrade backup but did work in v16 which I'd prefer to retain. Hypothetically, is it possible to downgrade a v16 database... manually or otherwise?

Completely appreciate the 8GB NUC is less than desirable specs but I was very impressed with capability to date, without doing anything too wild (no Fusion). I've since installed Resolve 16.1.1 on a Lenovo 530 laptop running the Intel 620 graphics (23.20.16.4905 drivers) and 8GB RAM with my original databases. Haven't tested extensively but Resolve does open and run in that environment.

Thanks for clarifying the graphics driver dll point--makes perfect sense to retain it in this case.

It is not possible to use Resolve 16 projects in earlier Resolve versions, i.e. no, you can't downgrade a 16 database to work in 15.

For anyone playing along at home, I was finally successful in my attempt to get Resolve 16.1.1 working again on my Intel NUC by installing the generic Intel graphics driver (specifically, the latest DHC driver: 26.20.100.7463 dated 11/14/19). I firstly uninstalled the existing Intel graphics driver through Apps and Features, which left me with the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. I replaced it with the Win10 DHC driver for my 7th-gen NUC from the Intel Download Center:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/produc ... cs-Drivers

Resolve now opens and then runs more smoothly than it was before my issue cropped up. I am still seeing a Resolve-related Ntdll.dll error in the application event log after exiting Resolve but that's a problem for another day (and it doesn't seem to be causing any harm).

Note I'm running a Intel NUC7i5BNH Core i5 with only 8GB of RAM, and obviously, integrated Intel Iris Plus 640 graphics.

Updating the driver and then deleting igdrclneo64.dll did the trick for me. Now onto learning R16

Hi,

Like many people in this thread, I've successfully downloaded DaVinci Resolve, but it won't open. Here are the details:

Mid 2010 iMac
running macOS High Sierra
version 10.13.6 (17G10021)

Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core i3
Memory: 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4670 256 MB

I'm trying to run DaVinci Resolve (not studio) version 15.3.1003

When I run the program it shows the loading screen but crashes as it says "loading Waveform monitors"
I have attached the logs below. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jacob

The HD4670 GPU does not support Resolve.

Ok, that's a shame. Appreciate the help.
Would any of the older versions of Resolve have a chance of working?

Thanks for your time,
Jacob

No. Resolve requires OpenCL 1.2 minimum for support, and that GPU has OpenCL 1.0 support.

There is no log or preference data in that log file.

What type of system are you on? What OS are you using? What graphics hardware do you have?

It would appear you are using Ubuntu. We only support Resolve on RHEL/CentOS 7.x.

You might look/post in this thread for assistance:

Your config file is corrupt. Do a clean install, as per the process near the end of this thread:

Installed it. Put it into a different directory than the default. Would not start, crashed with a library error.

Uninstalled. Reinstalled, accepting the default. Ran once, I loaded some of my video files to start editing, and it crashed. Now it won't start at all. Double click on the icon and nothing happens.

Dell Inspiron 15, Windows 8.1.

I tried running the CaptureLogs.bat file but it created a 765MB file that wetransfer choked on.

Seriously? The spyware OS? :o 8.1 is under support until 2023 at the very least.

I suppose that settles it then. A pity, I'm just starting out and I heard such great things about Resolve from the pros on Youtube. I didn't want to buy Filmora, but I guess you just made a sale for them.

Frank, by unsupported it means BMD will not fix any problems caused by Win 8.1 or test using it. They cannot support an OS forever and Win 10 has been around since 2015. You may be able to get Resolve to work if you try an earlier version. In the left hand column of the downloads page if you scroll it down you will find all versions going back to 10. Why not give version 12 or 14 a try?
Resolve Studio 18.6.6 build 7
Dell XPS 8700 i7-4790, 24GB RAM, 2 x Evo 860 SSDs, GTX1060/6GB (546.01 Studio Driver), Win10 Home (22H2), Speed Editor, Faderport mk1, Eizo ColorEdge CS230 + BenQ GW2270 + Samsung SA200, Canon C100mk2, Zoom H2n.

@Nikola: Oddly, Resolve is not seeing your GTX1050 GPU at all. It's also not seeing your NIC MAC address. I've never seen this before,

Making me wonder if you are running Resolve under some hardware restricted user account?

Right click the Resolve icon and select run as Admin and see if that behaves better.

@Craig:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

Hi Dwayne,
I've tried to open it as administrator and nothing changes. I've also tried to reinstall whole DaVinci Resolve but it still doesn't want to start. I've downloaded Resolve from official DaVinci Resolve site, so there shouldn't be any problems with my account.

Few days ago, I've downloaded new drivers for my Intel and Nvidia graphic card, is it possible that this could be a problem? What kind of informations about Nvidia do you need?

I have Nvidia GeForce 1050 with driver 445.87 on resolution 1920x1080, 60Hz.

I've also tried to open DaVinci in safe mode and it normaly opens in safe mode.

Yes, i saw your hw and driver versions in the NFO.

My next suggestion would be to install the NVIDIA 431.86 Studio driver.

@Craig: You have a very old AMD driver, which I suspect is the issue.

The HP Envy driver site has one newer driver than what you are using (though it's still quite old). You can try installing that to see if it helps.

If not, then perhaps use the AMD site driver manager to download a current driver.

All that said, being that the R7 graphics are integrated into the AMD CPU, it just may not be good enough to run Resolve.

Thanks Dwaine, problem fixed, re-installed the AMD driver and fixed the problem. I managed to get this done a few days ago and your reply re-affirmed this was a good place to start if is does not load. Check to see if you are running and AMD driver and may need to uninstall and re install is, or a newer one, or use the download manager from the AMD website.
Thanks again Dwaine!

Re: Resolve wont start

Hello Dwaine, I've tried all methods the videos in the video I just watched...

But it still didn't open for me. The final solution directed me to this forum and to post the logs from the application.

To go through the video's solutions...

System Requirements (16gb ram, 2gd v-ram)

The Video Driver update fix (Everything is up-to-date)

USB Peripherals (I unplugged everything)

The VPN Fix (I don't have a VPN)

Turn off Windows Firewall (Turned off all firewall protection)

Resolution with the Windows Compatibility Troubleshooter

- This is weird, when I tried to trouble shoot compatibility on the software, immediately a message popped up that said "An unexpected error occurred. The troubleshooting wizard can't continue."
- I have a feeling this could be the culprit

Blocked port discovery (It said "ok", which was suppose to happen?)

The OFX plugins issue

- I only have Hitfilm in the OFX folder with two files inside name "BCC_OFX_3DObjects.ofx.bundle" and "mochaHitFilm6.ofx.bundle"

The new asset crash fix (Resolve still wasn't opening so this doesn't apply)

Building a log file for further support at the Blackmagic forums. (Well here I am lol...)

I've attached the logs file to this reply below

I don't think this will help, but you've got the current NVIDIA 461.09 driver installed. Many people have reported issues with that driver.

Download and install the 460.89 driver, and when you run the installer, select the Custom install option and select Clean install.

If this doesn't help, and I don't think it will (but you don't want the 461.09 driver at any rate) then my other suggestion would be to uninstall the Intel HD 530 graphics driver using DDU. This forum thread describes how to do that:

Re: Resolve wont start

PostThu Mar 04, 2021 8:42 pm

This Da Vinci 17 upgrade was offered to me while I was using my 16.2 version. I said yes and once the zip file was in my download folder I closed everything down and hit the install. I found that I had to uninstall my previous version. Then when my new version uploaded I was prompted to upgrade my files or back them up. As I was reading the prompt Da Vinci shut down. It would never reboot. I uninstalled version 17 and reinstalled the official website version once more. The same non function at bootup continued.
Then I remembered how I still had my Version 16.2 still in my download folder. I uninstalled version 17 and then installed this earlier 16.2 version which not only worked as before it also recognized all of my previous projects.

Don't panic, check your download files and and if possible go back to 16.2 until the bugs are resolved from version 17.

It's always helpful to also get a Windows System Information .NFO file.

But based on where your logs are hanging, my first guess would be that you have a USB connected device that is preventing Resolve from launching.

As a test for that, disconnect all USB devices, including any USB Bluetooth or headset dongle and HDMI capture dongles and USB cameras and USB hubs. Leave only a normal USB connected keyboard and mouse, and make sure those are directly connected, i.e. not through a hub.

Then launch Resolve and see if it works. If it does, put the USB devices back on one at a time until you find the device causing the Resolve launch hang.

Hi there Dwane!

I would really appreciate your help as soon as possible. I have been trying to get resolve to open, but I just get the spinning blue wheel, and then it disappears. I have tried killing the task in task manager, updating my drivers, increasing cpu memory, uninstalling antivirus and firewall, and running app compatibility. I will attach my capture logs below. And the error message I get in reliability history. Thank you very much! I would appreciate your help as soon as you can!

It looks like Resolve has never run on this system, so I have no historical log data to work with.

Please run the Windows System Information app and select the File - Save menu to create a .NFO file, and provide a link to that.

It doesn't work on most systems without a dedicated GPU.
No, an iGPU is not enough, and you can't use HEVC 10 bit 4:2:2 in the free version.

Has Resolve ever run on this system?

The CPU has an Intel UHD 630 iGPU, so should run Resolve. Based on the limited info you provided, it looks like it could be a UHD 630 iGPU driver issue.
