You seemed to have found a solution. I don't have a solution for those adapters interfering with Resolve.

Just wanted to post to say I have just run into a similar problem with Studio. Probably haven't used Resolve since updating to 17.4.2, but this morning, it just wouldn't launch. Tried uninstall/reinstall with no luck. Was about to try the free version before rolling back to a previous version when I saw the later posts in this thread. I have just disabled the 'SuperDisplay Virtual Adaptor' and it now launches. Have had this display adaptor almost as long as I've had resolve and never had an issue.

Razer Blade Base 2020
Windows 10 21H1 19043.1415

If you are using Windows:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

I've Been at this for 3.5 hours and nothing is working. I have a Nvidia 3070, Cpu, 32 gb ram, 8 gb vram. All of the other suggestions that YouTube videos have given me haven't worker. I just don't understand why this still isn't working "C:\Users\User\Desktop\DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20230118_ 53648.zip"

@Brody: You need to put the DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20230118_ 53648.zip file on a file sharing site and provide a link here to the file.

We'll also need a Windows .NFO file. To generate that file, open the Windows System Information app, then select its File menu, then select Save. Also put that file on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file here.

Since you are new forum user, it may not allow you to post URLs yet, and in that case, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the the forum system doesn't think it's a URL.

Also, please make sure the links to your file sharing site don't require access credential's.

Open Windows Device Manager, and in the Display Adapters area, right click the Microsoft Remote Display Adapter and select Disable device. Then see if Resolve will launch.

If that doesn't help, update the Intel graphics driver from the current 31.0.101.3302 driver to the 31.0.101.3959 on the ASUS website Support area VGA Drivers for your Z690-PLUS motherboard.

Thank you for your assistance. I update the driver and still didn't launch. While still looking at everything I got a popup for Windows 11 update from Windows 10. Since my hardware had been updated I decided to give it a try. After the Windows 11 update Resolve launched without issue. I also got the prompt for Resolve update which I also installed. I'm pleased to say Version 18.1.3 Build 8 is installed and working well.

Hello Dwaine

I hope you are feeling good

I was typing a whole chapter of what I've been through trying to get Resolve to work, but it just cleared out (out of nowhere). Now I can tell you it just shows me this error:

Please ensure that the system power profile is set to
use the discrete GPU for DaVinci Resolve and that the
displays are not connected to the integrated GPU

I ve tried older versions, display settings on my computer, install graphic drivers, change the Davinci settings in the media part, and more XD

I appreciate your help on this! I attached capturelogs.

My specs are: Laptop Pavilion, AMD Radeon graphics card R7 and AMD Radeon TM 535DX, more: AMD A12-9720P RADEON R7, 12 COMPUTE CORES 4C+8G 2.70 GHz

Need an NFO file to go along with the Resolve logs.

Open the Windows System Information app and select its File menu, then Save (NOT EXPORT!) to generate the .NFO file.

Here's what I see from the rolling log, all on 2-5-2023:

at 14:01 you launched Resolve 18.1.2 and it couldn't detect any OpenCL capabilities of the 2 AMD GPU's it detects. You launched that a couple of times.

at 16:02, you had 18.1.1 installed and it had the same issue of no OpenCL for the AMD GPUs.

at 17:02, you had 17.4.4 installed and it had the same issue of no OpenCL for the AMD GPUs. You launched that several times.

19:41 was the last time you launched 17.4.4 and it had the OpenCL issue.

Then you did SOMETHING to the system, because:

at 19:55, with 17.4.4 still installed, now Resolve is seeing OpenCL capability for the R7 Graphics GPU.
And it's not complaining of any GPU issues after that point. So it looks like its working at that point.

Then you launched Resolve 34 more times, all with 17.4.4, and again, all those logs looks like it's working.

So the question is: what exactly is the issue at this point? And, since it looks like you have not tried any 18 versions since the GPU started working at 19:55, I'd suggest you try installing 18.1.3 now, and see what it does.

And if 18.1.3 doesn't work, provide an updated Resolve log and .NFO file.

Congrats, you have an APU that AMD won't even reveal on their support website.

So your HP laptop has both a Radeon R7 iGPU that's part of the A12-9720P APU, and it has a discrete Radeon 535 GPU.

You also have a very old 2017 AMD graphics driver installed.

I tried to find your laptop on the HP website without success. So I don't know if HP has a better graphics driver or not. But probably not.

The latest AMD driver for this GPU is Adrenalin 22.6.1. I recommend you install that:

https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics ... radeon-535

See if that works.

If it still doesn't work then I'd recommend that you open Windows Device Manager, then select Display Adapters, and right click the R7 adapter and select Disable device. Then see if Resolve works.

If not, send an updated Resolve log and .NFO file.

Oh, I understand, well I have tried the options offered and somehow it asks me to restart after installing then I restart and the driver is not installed (I tried it twice and had actually tried it before).

Then my compute self updates onto a different R7 driver which I dont even find installed in my apps, so I dont have access to that driver.

I also tried disabling the R7 before updating and after, but that didn't work either
I am losing hopes, but maybe you will nail it after these logs

Thank you Waine!

Without the NFO, my best guess is that you have something in the range of the 20.5.1 driver installed.

I don't know why it won't take the 22.6.1 driver.

One more thing you can try: Use the DDU app to remove the current AMD driver, then try installing the 22.6.1 driver again and see if it sticks.

Here is a link to a forum post that describes using DDU to remove a driver:

viewtopic.php?f=21&t=119852&hilit=+ddu#p659861

It's also very possible that the GPU in this laptop just won't support Resolve 18 no matter what AMD driver you install. I have no way to test that.

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to answer my problem.
Earlier in the day Davinci resolve 18 worked perfectly. Then it crashed once, and since then it hasn't worked properly at all.

In fact when I want to launch davinci resolve nothing happens, a blue loading circle pops up and disappears.
I've tried : Deleting process in the task manager, updating my drivers to their latest version, compatibility mode, uninstall and reinstalling davinci resolve, it still doesn't work. I'm a bit lost.

The next step I'm considering is rebooting and wiping out my computer to zero. I would like if possible not to go to that extent and thus am seeking advice. Here are the logs from CaptureLogs.

Thank you again for taking the time to help me, I really appreciate it.
Aurelien.

Please open the Windows System Information app, then select its File - Save menu, which will create a .NFO file with the system info, then zip it and attach, if it's small enough, or if not, put it on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file.

Hey there,
having just about an identical issue as Aurelien with Resolve 18.1.4

I have Resolve Logs and System info files, but they are too large to attach the forum is saying I'm not allowed to post a URL to a Google Drive folder to share them.

I was rendering a project down, it crashed and asked to send a report and then just wouldn't open again.
Blue loading circle, then it just stops.
I updated my NVIDIA driver to the latest Studio driver - 535.98

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Resolve, I have disconnected any USBs I have attached.

Some System info without attaching a file:
Windows 11 Home x64
11700KF 3.60
4080 16 GB
48 GB Ram
~100 GB Remaining on C Drive

Any help is greatly appreciated at this point. I'm kind of at my wits' end. lol
I have Resolve on my laptop as well, but no separate project file to actually work with it on there.

Your config.dat file is bad.

Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\id145\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

Delete the config.dat file.

Now Resolve should start.

It will recreate the config.dat with the default starting info. If you had any Preferences modifications made, be sure to reapply those after starting.

If Resolve still doesn't start, send a new Resolve log file.

Dwaine, you're fantastic!

Deleting the config file did it for me. Resolve opened, but it's incredibly slow now. So, that's something new.
But, worst case, I was able to export a project file so I can work on my laptop which is running the project much faster.

I'm not sure if there could be anything else that's seen in the logs that might be causing Resolve to bog down so much now, but in any case, I uploaded a link again. https://we.tl/t-dN8El8pC45
I'm seeing like 7 fps at this point.

Dwaine, if you have a Venmo, PayPal or anything like that, I'd love to send you a cup of coffee or a beer or something. haha
Thank you again for everything.

I see a bunch of strange NVIDIA decoder errors. Not sure why. Maybe related to the brand new NVIDIA 535.98 driver you've installed.

On the NVIDIA Driver Download site, download the 531.61 Studio driver and install it. When you run the driver installer, select the Custom Install option, then the Clean install option.

See if that's better.

If not, in Resolve Preferences - System - Decode Options, uncheck the "Decode H.264/H265 using hardware acceleration" option, save the prefs and restart Resolve and see what that does.

As a test, open File Explorer and navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\Treddy\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

Rename the Preferences folder to Preferences.old.

Now start Resolve. It will create a new Preferences folder with default preference settings. If Resolve now starts, it means something was a problem in the existing preferences.

If Resolve does not start, send a new Resolve log and NFO file.

If Resolve starts, it will have default preferences. If you had made any changes in the Resolve Preferences area, make sure you make those changes again.
