Hello, Dwaine, I'm having a similar problem with Davinci resolve 15.2.2. I have installed the software multiple times and every time at the end of the installation process it gives the confirmation that resolve has been installed successfully but when I go to open it never opens. my cursor will show the loading symbol for maybe 10 seconds and then nothing. I have repeatedly attempted to attach a zip file of the crash logs to this post. But when I submit the edit it leads me to a page that says page not found. when I don't attach it, the post updates fine. can someone please give me a step by step instruction on how to properly run the crash logs and how to get them in a zip file. also, can I get instructions on properly attaching the zip files of the crash logs or posting a link to them. please don't hesitate to dumb down the instructions for me.

Using windows 10
12GB RAM
processor Intel(R) Core(TM) I7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz 1.99GHZ

@Yassin: That GPU does not support Resolve.

@Jimmy: In a File Explorer window, go to: C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

Then search for: igdrcl64.dll

Delete that file. Then try Resolve.

@Jaylen & Saleem: In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

Since you have an AMD GPU, follow the guidance in my next to last post in this thread:

Hi all,
From what I can tell, the onboard v.s. dedicated GPU issue was addressed in the 15.2.2 version of Resolve, but I seem to be having the same issue, unless it is a different issue with the same symptoms.

Dwaine, I wonder if you could help me out too, please?

It appears I'm not allowed to attach anything (every extention I have tried is "not allowed") and I'm not allowed to post URLs either.

This is the logs:
s/ bccpjmv8dpmlnmo /DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20192301_%2005824.zip?dl=0

This is the System Information:
s/ 88682vvdpcfp7pq /sysinfo.nfo?dl=0

Just add the dropbox url to precede it.

Details of Issue:
- I first clean installed 15.2.2 directly, and had this issue.
- Seeking a solution, I came here and found the onboard GPU uninstall with DDU utility. Tried that. My system insists on installing the onboard automatically, throws a bunch of other stuff haywire.
- Uninstalled 15.2.2
- Installed version 14.3.1 and that ran fine.
- I tried "upgrading" to v15 by installing it while 14 is already installed. v15 installer removed it while installing.
- Without clearing any resolve config data (like in C:\ProgramData) I installed v15.2.2
- 15.2.2 ran fine up to welcome tour, but once you finish the tour to start DaVinci Resolve, crash - gone.

We only support Windows 10.

You might try a newer NVIDIA driver, but not a January 2019 driver.

All GPU drivers are the most recent from Geforce.

I am running a NVidia GTX980Ti, i7, 8GB RAM.

Thank you.

Hello again, Dwaine. I know you said "We only support Windows 10", does that also mean you will not assist in debugging what's playing up when I'm trying to run Resolve?

If you are allowed to assist:
I launched resolve with a debugger attached, and it seems it cannot find resolve.pdb. What is resolve.pdb and why would it not get installed during the installation. From the extension I suspect it is a database. I also tried to debug the installer, and that cannot find DotNetInstaller.pdb, too. From these two, and the fact that it seems to run on Windows 10, I thought maybe I need the latest .net libraries; So I installed the latest (currently 4.7.2) and that made no difference either.

If you're allowed to assist, I look forward your response. Thanks.

Resolve does not have .pdb files. At least, there are none on my Windows system.

Since .pdb files are related to Microsoft debugging, I might speculate that your debugger is LOOKING for such files, and there aren't any.

There are too many things to deal with on a properly configured Windows 10 system, so can't really help you on Windows 8.1.

Hi Dwaine!

You have been super helpful with others getting Resolve to work for them and I am hoping you can work your magic with me too :) We want to order another P65 but we need Resolve to work on it first.

I have a new MSI P65 8RF as it appears others have had some issues with this machine as well.

I finally got Resolve to start after uninstalling and disabling the Intel graphics. Now resolve crashes when trying to open a new project. Hopefully your can help!

Thanks again Dwaine for you willingness to help! I hope you have a great week :)

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

I'm having the same issue as victorvigdal stated above and I've uninstalled Resolve 15, reinstalled it, updated my graphics driver to the 2nd most recent (as the most recent was an optional build and i didn't want to risk any bugs) and uninstalled/reinstalled again. Then I uninstalled 15 and installed 16.

Alright, I first tried 19.4.2 because I thought that might have been what you meant. After restarting, R16 still did not start.

then I uninstalled R16, and installed Radeon 19.3.2. after restarting, reinstalling R16, it still would not start even to launch the splash page.

I then tried uninstalling R16, and all blackmagic design components and programs through the control panel.

I tried to install R15 and I noticed something; Fairlight audio accelerator was list as "installed" but it was not in my list of installed programs in the Control panel, nor is there any evidence in the Program Files or Program Files x86 folders.

Could this be the cause? How can I truly (un)install it?

thanks,

Having the Fairlight Audio Accelerator installed should not be a problem. However, if you want to remove it, it should be in the Windows Control Panel Programs and Features list.

Did Resolve 15.3.1 also not work?

If not, try the AMD 18.12.2 driver.

With Radeon 19.4.2, I uninstalled Resolve and installed Resolve 15.3.8. It did not work.

I then installed AMD driver 18.12.2 and it did not work.

Next I tried installing Resolve 15.3.1 and it did not work.

Lastly I went back to the latest updates, Radeon 19.4.2 and resolve 16.0 and still nothing

In all instances, when I launched Resolve "Resolve.exe" appears in the Details tab of Task Manager and immediately disappears without anything coming up.

Hey,

I've got similar issues on my Dell XPS 15 9750. After launching Resolve the splashscreen shows up, stops at "Waveform Monitor" and then vanishes.
I tried Resolve 14.3.1, 15.3.1 and 16.0. All drivers are up to date, I did a clean reinstall of all VC++ redistributables. Even tried manually assigning my dedicated NVIDIA GPU to be used when launching Resolve.

System: XPS 15 9750
OS: Windows 10 Home 1803
CPU: Intel Core i7-8750H
RAM: 16GB
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with Max-Q Design 4GB VRAM + 8GB Shared RAM

Logs and Sysinfo NFO are in this archive:

I was having similar issues (Resolve would start, show loading splash, then suddenly disappear, never starting up), but all suggestions for uninstalling, deleting AppData, or deleting intel graphics driver .dll files wasn't working. So I just updated my Intel graphics driver from www intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html, and it works now! Just needed to install the software and download+install the update for the graphics driver.

Put the file on a file sharing site and post a link to the file here. If the system won't let you post a link (new users can't) then put a space in the link, so it doesn't look like a link to the system.

I was running 15.1 and it was working.
I started a new project (setting main parameters for 360 video I was going to import and work on).
I got called away for an hour or so and when I came back Resolve was no longer running).
since then -- I have uninstalled Resolve ... Reinstalled v16 (same issue).
- uninstalled and installed 15.1 again (same issue)
- uninstalled and installed 15.3 (same issue)
I will attach logs from that 15.3 version attempt.
normally it comes up to splash screen looking for control surface then just goes away in a few seconds with no other indication. One time It hung for a several minutes and only went away when I opened another window to look at something else (crash info in log).

Nothing obvious.

Do you have any displays connected to the onboard graphics ports? If so, remove or move them to the NVIDIA card to see if that helps.

There is also a new NVIDIA driver out today, might as well give that a try:

Hi, similar problem to others: Resolve (16.1.1, upgraded from 15.x) starts and I can select an existing project to open but the application UI subsequently crashes a few seconds after the editor is displayed, with the process still running in Windows Task Manager.

Have run Capture logs and saved .nfo file here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AnWvM1BKbPBag5cVfzR ... A?e=2TCCWh

I've also uninstalled video drivers and reinstalled/reinstalled latest, as well as deleting igdrcl64.dll from C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\igdlh64.inf_amd64_cb4895b021d464bf (searching the FileRepository directory for igdrcl64.dll was returning two results, now just one).

In addition, I've uninstalled and reinstalled Resolve 16.1.1 (without Panels, Keyboards, etc--just the minimum).

Incidentally, igdrclneo64.dll was also listed as the faulting module in a previous error event but I haven't seen it recently:

It's indeed an issue with your Intel Iris Grpahics 640 GPU driver.

You have the latest driver installed.

I see that Intel has 2 previous Intel HD Grpahics drivers available on the NUC support driver downloads page:

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/produc ... -NUC7i5BNH

All I can suggest is that you try both of those, and hopefully one works.
