copy / paste keyframe(s) in edit page

PostTue Feb 19, 2019 6:00 pm

this is an embarrasing simple question, but i could not make it work.
how do you copy single/multiple keyframes from the edit page (in my case transform | zoom & position) and paste them to another clip? CMD C and V or ALT V do not work as expected.

Copy and paste using ctrl-c ctrl-v but do it from the spline editor dropdown in the Edit page.

Hello,

No issue here :)
CTRL + C (copy)
ALT + V (Paste attribute)
Next result :)

thank you both - only one thing missing:

using the CMD C and ALT V option copys and pastes ALL keyframes of a clip.
Selecting ONE keyframe and CMD V in the spline editor window copies ONE attribute only.

lets say i have a simple size and position change keyframed. i need the last keyframe of one clip including X position, Y position, x zoom, y zoom - this state i need copied in another clip as a starting or ending point.

still not getting there unless
EITHER paste ALL keyframes and attriputes from one clip to another and then deleting everything i do not need
OR copying and pasting every attribute by its single curve/value from the spline editor

i know i can select the kind of attribute i apply by ALT V (in the paste attributes window) - but this still copies ALL keyframes of the selected clip.

am i missing something here? thanks !!

I don't think I am totally understanding what you want and are getting. You say you want the x and y position and zoom copied from one clip to another. These are 4 different keyframes. You can copy all 4 at once and then paste them to another clip. You can also copy and paste them individually. I am sorry if I am not getting the problem you are having.

sorry, the problem in understanding seems to be on my side :-) i cant find a way to copy these 4 keyframes within the spline editor and paste them in the new clip. i can copy ALL keyframes in the clip by CMD C and then paste them with ALT V - no problem. but this way it would include keyframes at different positions in the timeline. i want to copy the state at one exact point in the clip. and paste that on another one.
if i select ONE keyframe (lets say X position) - how do i copy the Y position and zoom at that same with the x position? i can only click on ONE keyframe (x OR Y OR zoom) in the spline editor, right?

(just copy a KF (or group of KF) and paste this KF to the next clip at TL position.. not sure... :?: )

Are you making sure you can see the keyframes you want to copy by using the dropdown in the upper left of the spline editor? You also want to make sure just the keyframes you want are selected, I usually use a box selection to select the keyframes I want. Then when you copy and paste, just the keyframes you want should be pasted.

this is exactly what i need. BUT:
my problem: selecting the keyframe(s) i need by boxing or klicking, then CMD C, then ALT V --> NOTHING happens!
only after selecting the clip itself, then CMD C, ALT V i get the PASTE ATTRIBUTE WINDOW

and yes, i made sure all the according keyframes are visible in the spline editor.

This is gold. Alt+v is king. I alt+v to paste plugin attributes (inc keyframes) from my ofx patch replacer in one clip across to another clip. Thanks.

It's 5 years later...but I don't think any of these answers actually addressed Martin’s question. I can paste ALL the attributes between audio clips, but it doesn’t seem to be possible to select a subset of keyframes in the spline editor (or anywhere else) and paste them anywhere. As Martin said, nothing happens.
No, you probably don’t need a calibrated, non-computer display.

I just added 2 clips to my Timeline. I added 5 keyframes for Zoom in one clip. I then box selected 3 of the keyframes and hit Ctrl+c, selected the other clip and placed my playhead over it, then hit Ctrl+v and the 3 keyframes pasted to the other clip. What am I missing? What isn't working?

I found that issue with coping/pasting keyframes may be linked with file types. Try to test on different clips like mov, mxf, mp4
