DR19 Speed editor update ?

PostSun Apr 14, 2024 10:13 am

Hey everyone,

When I installed the studio public beta, the speed editor message came for an update.
I did the update without any problem
But does anyone know what changed in the SE for DR19 ?

I can't find any messages about that. (I hope more usage tools for the edit page)

I also did the update of the Speed Editor firmware without any issues. But since then, it doesn't work at all. Whether I connect it via USB-C or via BlueTooth, Resolve doesn't accept any inputs from the Speed Editor, and the LEDs on the device stay ark.
The Control Panels app recognizes it if connected with USB-C, though.

Any suggestions how to get the Speed Editor working again?

Same here, exactly as Spartacus wrote. Speed Editor is recognized in Windows and Control Panel,
But no LED activity and no response inside Davinci Resolve :(
Thank you for suggestions!

I just ran the Speed Editor update. Used it in v19 beta 1. Like always, the bluetooth will not connect reliably on my Windows systems (neither desktop or laptop). Still works with the USB cable. beta 2 is downloading right now.

What I find ironic is this is the first piece of BMD hardware for many people. Instead of making something that perform as flawlessly as possible to impress people with their hardware, they give you what feels like a kludged together product that has problems that never get fixed.

And this is supposed to make people more interested in the other hardware how?

If you are familiar with Windows bluetooth stack or drivers you probably know getting it to work flawlessly is close to impossible.

Instead of just complaining why not provide details about your computer, BT chip/driver etc. you know relevant info that might help devs to fix problems? Or maybe you have I don't know.

Hi everyone. I'm in the same boat, installed DR19B2 (skipped B1) and it came with firmware 1.5 (build Build 737b6186) for the speed editor. It worked after the update, but after a few minutes of fiddling around in Resolve, it stopped working. It doesn't seem to be a hardware/firmware issue, because the DaVinci Control Panel Setup doesn't load anymore, I think it just crashes and can't interface with the Speed Editor.
Everything works again after restarting Resolve. So, it's a bit of a hassle, but I thin it can be managed with an update to the DR Control Panel. At least I hope. I run my Speed Editor via USB-C.
I was worried something got borked in the firmware update, but I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having this problem... I mean, glad that it's not broken, not that you're having problems too :D .

I've not had any problems with updating the Speed Editor to version 1.5 in Resolve 19.0b2. I do have it connected by cable as the Bluetooth connection is flaky on my computer.

While it seems to work here, I have the experience over the years that BT is generally unreliable, not only with SE. Both under Windows and MacOS. I keep it connected by cable and it simply works.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

I have my SE connected by USB C to the PC and Bluetooth to the Studio Max. Did the PC update to 19 first and updated firmware then. Updated the Studio Max and the SE just worked fine. I leave them connected this way but of course only have one open at the same time. In the past I have had to remove all pairing to get SE to work on PC and Mac. Of course if I want to use the SE with the iPad I have to make sure the Studio Max is powered OFF.

I must have gotten lucky as the speed editor works very reliably via Bluetooth on both my laptop and studio computers. They are both a couple of years old though. It would be great if BMD could tell us which Bluetooth version/hardware it became unreliable on. That way those having problems could probably solve them with a cheap Bluetooth dongle.

Is there anyway to do a J or L cut with the Speed Editor?
