19b2 Fairlight Automation

PostSun May 05, 2024 1:20 pm

I have a "Music" bus in Fairlight and need to move fader automation because the bus automation does not follow the edits.

Selecting the automation points with the range tool is ok, but there seems to be no way to move them all together by some frames.

How is this done?

Thanks

Select Focus mode and define a Range or draw a marquee to define a Range.

The Trim menu > Nudge options allow nudging automation nodes by Subframes, Frames, or Multiframes.

Resolve Preferences > User > Editing > General Settings > Audio subframe nudge

Nudge values may be specified in either milliseconds or subframes.

Thanks Reynaud, that does work.

I am editing audio in Nuendo for decades and Fairlight has a lot to improve to be as flexible.

It is worth keeping in mind that Buss automation should not necessarily move with edits. However, if automation data associated with certain Audio Tracks and any associated Busses should move in Resolve's UI (e.g. a ripple edit or performing a manual reconform), first define a Range and select all relevant paths (including the associated Busses), cut the Range and then jog or move the CTI to the required Timecode position and paste.

The Fairlight Audio Editor hardware panel also provides dedicated Copy Segment and Paste Segment keys in the Range menu which do not require path selection. The Copy/Paste Segment functions copy all Clips including associated automation data across all Tracks within the Range.

Thank Reynaud, I will look into that copy / paste method.

I am mostly working in Nuendo and using Fairlight only for some less complex projects.
