2110 to AES67

Is it possible to extract and/or inject AES67 Audio from and to 2110 Streams to be used with other Audio devices?

ST2110-30 defines the transport of both 16bit or 24bit LPCM and generally ST2110-30 and AES67 are compatible but with some significant differences.

For example, AES67 streams may use a random offset for the RTP stream clock whereas ST 2110-30 requires that the offset be zero.

Certain older AES67 devices only run as Grand Master whereas ST 2110-10 requires that devices offer an option to be forced in to PTP slave-only mode.

The AES67 and SMPTE ST2059-2 profiles are not identical and allow different ranges for domainNumber, logAnnounceInterval, AnnounceReceiptTimeout, and logSyncInterval. Proposed interoperability values have been indicated by the AES.

ST2110 supports IGMPv3 whereas AES67 supports IGMPv2 where downgrading the network may affect Source Specific Multicast mapping.

The Blackmagic 2110 IP Converter range currently provide Level C conformance which allows reception of:
(i) 48kHz streams with 1-8 audio channels at packet times of 1ms (which is mandatory for AES67)
(ii) 48kHz streams with 1-64 channels at packet times of 125μs

AES67 compatible devices may send streams at different or mixed rates, with higher channel counts, and with different packet timing which may not be compatible.

Even if the 2110 IP Converter range were AES67 compatible, there are several conditions which may need to be considered which may prevent compatibility depending on the AES67 devices deployed and how the system has been configured.
