Hyperdeck stuck in remote mode

My hyperdeck studio 12G is stuck in remote mode

All buttons are inactive and locked. It is visible on the usb port. But only the codec is selectable. I can use network access using NC and play, stop... but I can't find a command for a factory reset.

How can I recover a normal use

To eliminate a mechanical problem, has anyone ever encountered a faulty keyboard?

I'm not stuck anymore in remote mode,

... but I'm still stuck with the keyboard not responding.

On power up all the buttons turn on and off. Except for the stop button, which stays on when a disc is inserted. No button reacts (menu, input...). It's like an unplug keyboard.

Sounds like a problem with the keys indeed. Normally you should also be able to operate it with the keys on the front even when it's in remote mode.

You could send it to BMD for repair but I have the impression that they don't repair very much. If it's out of warranty they might offer you a refurbished model for a reduced price. You could also find a local (hobby) electronics guy. With a voltage meter and a logic analyzer it should not be too hard to find the problem, especially if you have another working device for him to compare it to. It could be as simple as a band ribbon not being inserted good anymore (due to a bump) or some small component(s) that have failed. Could be as easy as a pull-up resistor of a couple of cents.

It's a generation of out-of-warranty equipment, but some indication that BMD does not sell disposable equipment or that the company respects environmental values would have been appreciated.

I'm going to open it and check the points you mentioned but I wanted to rule out a software flaw first.
